JAIPUR – Against the backdrop of the alleged molestation and rape of foreign women tourists, the Rajasthan government has set up a task force to provide them protection, probe all the cases and prevent recurrence of such incidents.

A high-powered panel of principal secretary (home), director-general of police and secretary (tourism) would head the task force and submit its report to the government at the earliest, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje said on Friday.

They have been directed to “ensure the safety of all tourists, foreign as well as domestic”, she said while addressing a function in Ajmer on the eve of Republic Day.

Expressing serious concern about the alleged rape and molestation of three foreign women in Pushkar and Udaipur over the New Year, she said the panel would probe all the recent cases of sexual assault on tourists, especially foreigners.

The chief minister also announced setting up of a Pushkar Development Council for maintenance of the Hindu pligrimage, associated with Lord Brahma.
