The cost of travel and accommodation in the UK during the 2012 year of Britain’s Olympic and Paralympic Games will remain’ fair’ and will see Middle East holidaymakers offered ‘indisputable value-for-money’, representatives from VisitBritain told UAE travel agents today at workshops held in Dubai.
The event, which saw the UK’s national tourism agency address travel agents from across the UAE, also presented agents with the opportunity to network with some of Britain’s leading tourist board partners and tourism industry suppliers such as major hotel chains and UK transportation companies.
“The UK remains a popular destination for Middle East Travellers,” said Carol Maddison, UAE Manager, VisitBritain. “VisitBritain is using this platform to increase the UAE travel trade’s knowledge of the destinations and what is on offer for visitors planning a trip in 2011 and beyond.”
“The travel and tourism packages that are being showcased certainly bring to light the indisputable value-for-money travel deals which the market will continue to enjoy. With a significant year- on-year increase in GCC visitors to the UK, the UAE is the ideal location for holding this event,” Maddison added.
Established companies as well as new firms also took the opportunity to highlight some of the UK’s latest travel and tourism offerings ranging from spas to luxury shopping and golfing destinations.
“The workshops were a fantastic opportunity for us to discuss both the highlights and the concerns of UAE travel agents ahead of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games,” said Chris Foy, Head of the 2012 Olympic Games Unit, VisitBritain.
Visitors from the Middle East and in particular from the Gulf are of the utmost importance to the UK tourism industry and we want to ensure that they receive the best travel information and the best costs for their stay with us in 2012,” added Foy.
