NEW YORK CITY – Worldhotels is reporting a 20 percent growth during the first quarter of 2011 in room night bookings over the same period last year.

The company says increases were seen across all booking channels, with the star performer being Worldhotels’ Internet booking engine Resmaster, which showed growth of 26 percent. Room nights booked via GDSs increased by 20 percent, while bookings made through the group’s Website, worldhotels.com, showed an 11 percent increase.

The statistics represent a significant success for Worldhotels given that 2010 was itself a record year for the group, with a 25 percent increase in room night production compared with 2009 numbers. Compared to pre-economic downturn figures from the first quarter of 2008, this year boasts an increase of 33 percent growth in room nights.

Worldhotels’ portfolio includes 450 properties in 250 destinations and 65 countries around the globe. The group aims to add 80 new affiliate properties in 2011, and is already well on its way towards achieving this goal with 30 properties added since January 1.

Worldhotels Managing Director Robert Hornman believes the group’s new “Fast Forward” sales strategy played a critical role in its continuing growth.

“We looked closely at different markets, business segments and channels and are committed to providing our affiliate hotels with the best tools possible for leveraging every business-building opportunity,” he said

“Already this year we have introduced two new products, OTA360° and Spider by Worldhotels, designed to help hotels grow their online business, while a dedicated tool for MICE professionals has also been launched. Our first quarter results are extremely positive, an indication that we are well on our way to achieving our goals for 2011.”
