The press right around the world continue to be taken in by the beauty of the Seychelles islands. This week, China was reading about the Seychelles, the destination fast becoming the new hotspot for Chinese visitors. Today, we are looking at what Germany’s “PRIME Magazine,” the nation’s most read and respected business community publication, has come out with in their report on the beautiful tourism mecca of the Seychelles.

These mid-ocean islands, sitting virtually on the equator in the Indian Ocean, depends on their tourism industry, which remains the pillar of their economy. This is why the Seychelles has been proactive and has been wooing the press from everywhere. Alain St.Ange, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, has said that the Seychelles has nothing to hide and that by inviting members of the press fraternity to the islands, they were getting their country’s message to the world.

“Telling the world that the Seychelles remains the destination for all wanting a holiday in paradise can best be done by the press, and Seychelles remains happy to encourage press from the four corners of the world to visit our mid-ocean islands,” Alain St.Ange said.

The islands’ President, Mr. James Michel, personally holds the portfolio for tourism in these tropical islands. It was President Michel who relaunched the islands’ tourism industry with a new brand he called the “Seychelles brand,” which has enabled the Seychellois to claim back their country’s tourism industry by encouraging them to get involved in tne mainstream industry. This year alone, the Seychelles saw over one hundred small entrepreneurs register their small hotel businesses as above-board tourism units. This has been enabled because of the removal of beaurocratic redtape at the island’s Planning Authority. The island’s President has also moved the Seychelles into the world of events when he launched the March 2011 edition of the Seychelles “Carnaval International de Victoria,” a manisfestation now called the “carnival of carnivals” by the world press.

Alain St.Ange has been in the driver’s seat, spreading the unique selling points of the islands right accross the world. He is today a respected speaker on the world circuit on tourism matters and appears on the list of impressive speakers addressing the big Aviation Routes Forum in Berlin on October 2.
