A delegation from Seychelles, the team for the Routes Africa 2012 host country, will be in China to represent the islands at the 10th Routes Asia that will take place in Chengdu, from April 15-17.

The Seychelles’ delegation to China is headed by the islands’ Minister for Tourism and Culture, Alain St.Ange, and it comprises the Chief Executive Officer of the Seychelles Tourism Board, Elsia Grandcourt; the Seychelles Tourism Board Consultant and Copywriter, Glynn Burridge; along with Tourism Board’s Marketing Executive, Amy Michel. The delegation also includes members of the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority, who have teamed-up with the Seychelles Tourism Board to organize the island’s hosting of the 7th Routes Africa. Members of the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority who will be representing Seychelles at the Routes Asia 2012 include its General Manager of Operations, Wilfred Fock-Tave, and Air Transport Officer, Florence Marengo.

Seychelles will be hosting the Routes Africa 2012, which will bring together routes development professionals from the African region and beyond from July 8 to 10.

Routes Asia 2012, similarly to Routes Africa, is the route development forum for the Asian countries, and is being hosted this year by Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport (CDIA) – currently the largest air hub and passenger and cargo distribution center in the central western region of China.

The Seychelles delegation at Routes Asia 2012 will use their 3-square-meter stand to get Seychelles and Routes Africa 2012 visible to all participants.

The Seychelles Tourism Board CEO, Mrs. Grandcourt, has said that this conference is providing Seychelles with the perfect opportunity of being showcased as a holiday destination, as well as to be promoted as the future host of Routes Africa 2012.

“It is opportune for Seychelles to be part of Routes Asia 2012, as the region is a promising market that can help increase tourist arrivals to our shores, and the conference will enable us to show what our islands offer as a holiday destination,” said Mrs. Grandcourt.

“Furthermore, it is the ideal platform for us to attract and encourage potential routes development professionals to take part in the Routes Africa 2012 that we will be hosting in July,” added Mrs. Grandcourt.

Seychelles’ participation at Routes Asia 2012 will also open the door to further discussions on air accessibility between Asia and Seychelles, as the islands are looking into the possibility of being linked to the Asian region, noted Mrs. Grandcourt.
