ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – Malala Yousufzai is a symbol of undeterred courage to confront forces of oppression and bigotry, and she has become a global symbol for peace. Neither terrorists nor militants could take a stand against the strength of the purpose being pursued by Malala – this is the message Pakistan sends to terrorists.

On October 9, 2012 the National Peace Award winner, 14-year-old Malala Yusufzai, was shot point blank in the head by Taliban when she was coming home with other girls in a school van.

What was the sin of innocent Malala?

“Yes it was a sin that a girl is writing letters to non-Muslims demanding their help for peace in her area,” was the response from Taliban. The Taliban and its leader, Mullah Fazal, took the responsibility for this act against Malala.

The Taliban targeted Malala specifically for her human rights activism. She has bravely spoken for the rights of girls to receive an education saying, “I don’t mind if I have to sit on the floor at school. All I want is education. And I’m afraid of no one.”

Malala’s father ran one of the last girls’ schools to defy a Taliban ban against female education in Pakistan’s Swat Valley. The entire family has received threats from the Taliban.

Malala is slowly improving in a UK hospital after the bullet was removed from her brain. According to hospital officials, she is standing, communicating, and writing, but will need weeks, perhaps months, to recover. She is still being aided with breathing and is fighting an infection.

The whole nation of Pakistan is praising Malala and condemning the Taliban. If Malala is awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace, it will encourage the entire nation, as well as females and girls, to stand firm against radicalism.

The Kooza Communication International supported the Avaaz.org campaign for Malala Yousafzai from the day the campaign was launched. Now The Kooza Communication International has gone a step further and launched another campaign to vote for Malala for the Nobel Peace Prize.
