With just over a month to go, over 110 companies are making final preparations to participate at Aircraft Interiors Expo Americas 2014 in Seattle from October 14-16, the largest dedicated aircraft interiors event in the Americas region, organized by Reed Exhibitions. Showcasing a broad spectrum of the cabin interiors market, such as aircraft interior design, cabin engineering and management systems, the exhibitor list features Airpac Enterprises, BAE Systems, Esterline Engineered Materials, ITT Enidine, Lufthansa Technik, Sky-Paxxx, Sogerma and Zodiac Aerospace. Over 30 exhibitors will be making their debut including Acro Aircraft Seating and Mimura Industries.

Acro Aircraft Seating will be exhibiting variants of its Ultra XC aircraft seat which is already in service with Condor Airlines of Germany and is designed to save weight and fuel costs whilst enhancing passenger comfort.

On the exhibition floor, Acro Aircraft Seating will display two rows of triple seats to give airline buyers a good idea of the kind of seat they could be enjoying on board their own aircraft. One row will show an extra-width seat variant of its low-cost carrier seat (pre-reclined) together with a mini-tray table, as used by Spirit Airlines. The second row will display the full service carrier reclining seat with provisions for audio or video IFE as well as an extra-width Airbus style seat.

“For this show in Seattle, we’ve adapted our wider seat cushion Ultra XC triple seat but have chosen to display it as a pre-reclined variant with the mini-tray table installed on the seat back. Displaying this configuration on our stand in Seattle allows Acro Aircraft Seating to show Low Cost Carriers the versatility and marketing advantage of selecting a slim line lightweight seat which returns leg room to passengers and provides a superior seat width, which, combined with Acro Aircraft Seating’s unrivalled legroom, gives comfort comparable to a full service airline. The seat is 18.1″ wide for the window and aisle along with an industry beating 19.3″ for the middle seat,” explained Cameron Allan, Commercial Director at Acro Aircraft Seating.

“Displaying the mini-tray table is also important because of its unique latch free upright and locked position which offers yet another low part count innovation from Acro Aircraft Seating,” added Allan. “The Ultra XC is the latest in an evolutionary range of Ultra seats to prove that a lightweight slim seat can deliver operational advantages to airlines coupled with positive passenger appeal.”

The company now has four major US carriers as customers, with firm orders for delivery through 2021. North America remains a key region for the company’s expansion and following deliveries of the its Superlight Seat to Spirit Airlines in March 2014, Acro Aircraft Seating recently announced that manufacturing is about to commence for 25 further sets of Superlight to be ready for installation on Spirit’s A320 and A321 deliveries from Airbus in early 2015.

Airpac Enterprises is a women-owned business which is a certified Part 145 FAA and EASA repair station with extensive interior repair capabilities from crew and passenger seating services to full cabin upgrades. Airpac Enterprises believes that an aircraft interior is key to the customer flight experience and to the operator’s brand. The company will be promoting its extensive capabilities to include crew and passenger seating repairs; galley repair; spare part manufacturing; lease return inspections and IFE installation. Airpac Enterprises specialises in Avio, BE Aerospace, Embraer, Ipeco, Koito, Recaro, Sicma, Sogerma, and Weber seats for all aircraft types. Global customers include airlines, leasing Companies, Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facilities, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and the entertainment industry.

Lufthansa Technik develops tailored and innovative products in the fields of cabin management, aircraft and cabin equipment and IFE systems. This year it will be showcasing two key product systems at Aircraft Interiors Expo Americas – nice HD and niceview.

Since the first installations and certifications in 2003, the nice system has become the acknowledged industry standard for high-quality IFE and cabin system management systems on large and small business jets alike. The latest generation featuring high definition-enabled nice HD can incorporate an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch as a content on-demand provider and satellite live radio/TV into the system’s highly integrated digital network.

The niceview moving map system provides worldwide, high-resolution three-dimensional maps and virtual flights designed to create the ultimate flight information and viewing experience for airline and VIP passengers. New and unique features keep everyone informed and help to create an enjoyable infotainment experience throughout the entire flight. Integrating the latest flight simulation technology and authentic satellite maps, niceview offers various photo-realistic two and three-dimensional views with resolutions up to 1 metre per pixel.

First-time exhibitor Mimura Industries is a Japanese manufacturer of passenger seat frames and its high-quality dedication to both manufacturing parts and assembling these frames has resulted in constructive relationships with leading suppliers in the industry.
“The main focus of participating in Seattle this year is to make our very first step on the international stage. Although we’ve previously exhibited in Japan, we didn’t promote our aerospace capabilities but given the cabin interiors industry is growing so fast, we decided that this is the right time to expand our business outside of Japan. Last year was our 60th anniversary and this will be the first time that visitors in Seattle will be able to view our products for themselves,” said Ryoko Maria Mimura, International Business Operations Manager at Mimura Industries.

Sogerma will be inviting visitors to its stand at the exhibition to view a range of innovative, comfortable and luxurious First Class, Business Class and Premium Economy seats. Sogerma will present its new Business Class Equinox 2D together with Equinox 3D as well as Premium Business Class Solstys enhanced seats. First Class seats will include Class180, Ultimate 17 and Ultimate Sleeper. Although Sogerma’s Premium Economy seat Celeste will not be displayed, relevant information will be given to visitors on the stand.

Katie Murphy, Exhibition Director for Aircraft Interiors Expo Americas, said: “The international dimension of this year’s event will doubtless be a great attraction for visitors as there will be exhibitors from around the world displaying the very latest innovations and products. We are also delighted to announce a new feature for the show floor called CabinSpace LIVE, a face-to-face platform with direct access to airlines, operators, buyers and specifiers from the aircraft interiors industry – it will offer a dedicated area for the exchange of information and best practices and all sessions will be free to attend. The excellent networking opportunities and busines
