Mexico City – The tourism minister of the state of Culiacan, Antonio Ibarra Salgado, was murdered Tuesday in the northern Mexico city.
Officials said unidentified persons attacked the minister’s car and shot him and the driver.
Salgado’s house was searched over the last week by security forces following a tip that the minister had ties to drug gangs.
Culiacan is one of the hotspots for the drug trade in Mexico, where politicians and high state officials are entwined in the illegal drug industry.
