HONOLULU, HI – A group of 24 student council members from Mokulele Elementary School boarded Mokulele Airlines’ new Embraer 170 jet for its inaugural flight. The flight is part of the airline’s new daily jet service from Honolulu to Kailua-Kona and Lihue. Mokulele Elementary School faculty members accompanied the group of fourth, fifth, and sixth grade student council members.

“It was truly an honor for Mokulele Elementary to be traveling on the inaugural flight. We were very excited about sending our finest student council leaders along with representatives of the school administration to this special event,” said Bart Nakamoto, principal of Mokulele Elementary School. “We look forward to forming a long partnership with Mokulele Airlines.”

“We were happy to welcome these ‘island hoppers’ from Mokulele Elementary School on board for one of our inaugural jet flights. These kids are young leaders, and we are happy to reward them with the unique opportunity to fly with us on this special day,” said Bill Boyer, Jr., president and CEO of Mokulele Airlines. “After all, we think of ourselves as young leaders in Hawaii’s aviation industry. So we share both a leadership spirit and a name,” he added.

The Embraer 170 jet service is made possible through Mokulele Airlines’ new service agreement under which Republic Airways’ subsidiary, Shuttle America, will operate up to four Embraer 170 jets. Complete schedules are available at www.mokuleleairlines.com .

“We are so happy to be able to offer this jet service to the people and visitors of Hawaii,” added Boyer. “We want to continue to provide people with a high-quality, reasonably-priced option for inter-island travel.”

Mokulele Airlines is a locally owned and operated inter-island commuter airline based in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Beginning March 1, 2009, the airline will offer jet service between Honolulu and Kahalui, Maui. Mokulele Airlines also offers tour flights, as well as inter-island cargo service. Mokulele Airlines currently has a fleet of seven 208B Cessna Grand Caravans and operates 56 daily departures to seven cities in Hawaii.
