This is what will come to life at the height of the Rio de Sant’Eufemia from August 25 to September 10, 2022, as the Floating Cinema – Unknown Waters (Acque Sconosciute) – the cultural festival that takes place on the waters of the Venice lagoon – is renewed for a third edition.
The public can access and watch the programming from their boats and from a platform designed to accommodate spectators without a boat. Born with the intention of making a shared vision concrete, the Floating Cinema – Acque Sconosciute wants to create an amphibious settlement that springs from a small utopia.
The third edition of the review has as its theme surreal, dreamlike, and hallucinatory visions – the absurd.
This search for paradox finds its foundation in the nature of Floating Cinema – Acque Sconosciute where, in a fluctuating context that tends to the unreal, the first intent is to trigger a collective enchantment on the lagoon horizon. This year’s programming’s, therefore, aims to be an echo of this mechanism and amplify the perception that goes beyond the ordinary.
For the second consecutive year, the In Between Art Film Foundation, active in the lagoon with the collective exhibition Penumbra at the Ospedaletto Complex, is a partner of Cinema Galleggiante – Acque Sconosciute. A selection of video and film works will be presented within the program of the Foundation’s Collection, which investigates the boundaries of time-based media between film, video and installation.
Floating Cinema – Acque Sconosciute reconfirms the participation of partners and realities of previous editions, with the involvement of over 50 authors from all over the world, with more than 30 local and international cultural realities; a participatory, experimental and local food and wine program; and the presence of Venetian rowing boats that ferry the spectators towards the floating cinema.
The complete program of Floating Cinema – Acque Sconosciute is available and downloadable from the website starting today, August 8.
Floating Cinema – Acque Sconosciute is a project by Edoardo Aruta and Paolo Rosso presented by Microclima, in collaboration with Ocean Space – TBA21 – Academy, Pentagram Stiftung, and Palazzo Grassi – Punta della Dogana – Pinault Collection, In Between Art Film Foundation and Lamyland – Owenscorp, in addition to 4 new partners – Chantal Crousel Consulting, Peggy Guggenheim Collection, National Pavilion of Uzbekistan, and Combo. In addition to the collaboration with the 8 partners, Cinema Galleggiante – Acque Sconosciute avails itself of the contribution of institutions called upon to integrate programming with a selection of contents.
