A Seychelles delegation led by the Minister for Tourism & Culture, Alain St.Ange, has arrived in Chengdu, China, for the Routes Asia aviation conference, due to be held between April 15-18, 2012. The delegation is made up of the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, (STB) Elsia Grandcourt, and General Manager of Operations for the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA), Wilfred Fock-Tave, who are accompanied by SCAA’s Ms. Florence Marengo and the Tourism Board’s Amy Michel and Glynn Burridge.

The delegation, which is manning a joint Tourism Board/Civil Aviation Authority stand at the Chengdu Routes Asia conference, is in China to prepare for the Routes Africa conference due to be held in Seychelles between July 8-10, 2012 after Seychelles was successful in its bid to hold the event.

“The purpose of being here in Chengdu for the Routes Asia conference,” stated Minister St.Ange, “is not only to learn from the experience and be able to take the positives back home in order to create a successful event in Seychelles, but also to sell Seychelles in Asia as an ideal gateway to Africa through the Western Indian Ocean region. Both in terms of our geographical location and our infrastructure, Seychelles has a great deal to offer potential partners, and we are here to get that message across.”

The Seychelles delegation will be present at the 3-day event, while at the same time making the most of the opportunity to meet with the Routes organizers to plan for the Routes Africa event and also hold one-on-one meetings with delegates and potential future partners before moving on to the capital of Beijing to attend the COTTM Tourism Trade Fair.
